The Clarkes Hill reconstruction project was funded through a $1 million contribution from Snowy Valleys Council in the 2016-17 budget, $1.57 million from the NSW State Government Fixing Country Roads program and further $1.57 million from the Federal Government Heavy Vehicle program. This important infrastructure improvement for Snowy Valleys Council as this particular section of road was steep and narrow and was an impediment to efficient heavy haulage transportation.
Council were concerned that the road was not constructed to specifications and requested The Peron Group undertake an independent investigation as to if and were their failings were in the project management and the consequences to the project success.
