Western Corridor Recycled Water :: Wagga Sewer 2010 :: 1770/Agnes Water Integrated Water Project :: Townsville Water Supply Upgrade Project :: Abu Dhabi City Water and Storm Water Management :: Wagga Waste Management and Recycling :: Tarcutta Street Gas Works Remediation
The project: The largest water recycling project in the southern hemisphere and the third largest advanced water treatment project in the world.
Client: Queensland Government
Project value: A$2.4 billion
Our role: Project Director, Project Manager and Transaction Advisory
Timeframe: 2006-2008
The Peron Group was commissioned to provide strategic leadership and project management expertise to this project in order to meet time and political imperatives during a period of severe drought in SE Queensland. The project is being procured through five alliances – three providing advanced water treatment plants and two providing more than 200km of large diameter pipelines. The project forms a key component of an SEQ water grid, and is part of the Government’s strategy to ensure sustainable water supplies to the region, together with institutional and pricing arrangements.
Peron was originally retained to review and modify the scope of work of the alliances so as to meet regulated target dates and contain the overall cost. Peron then managed the transition of the project from the Department of Infrastructure and Planning to Western Corridor Recycled Water Pty Ltd, a special purpose vehicle, and the associated commercial, management and governance arrangements. Peron continues to provide commercial and strategic advice.
